Bloom in' Westerton

Bloom in' Westerton

is a group of Local community gardeners supported by Westerton Garden Suburb, Scotrail, East Dunbartonshire Council, and Awards for All

Over 20 people expressed an interest in a gardening group to carry on Sir Stirling Maxwell's vision of beautifying the suburb (our first meeting was 6th March 2013).

We are constituted as part of Cairnhill Woods Group so all Bearsden West residents are automatically members. We are delighted to have secured just under £600 awards for all funding to kick start the project in the centenary year, and to have ongoing support from Westerton garden suburb committee, Bearsden West Community Council and Scotrail.

EDC green space officer Jackie Gillespie is supporting increasing biodiversity in the garden suburbs open spaces through gardening for wildlife. An agreed list of preferrred biodiverse plants with visual impact is attached.

Jackie has helped by agreeing council maintaniance schedules, providing free compost, providing subsidised tubs and providing advice.

Please contact us urgently if you see damage to any planting.

Please feel free to water, tidy or weed tubs as needed.
